Find out how your life might be enhanced with “yoga”.
Since January 2014, Eleanor Johnson-Muth, member of Neighborhood Church and a trained yoga instructor, offers a weekly yoga and meditation class. These classes provide a place to explore the physical, emotional, and spiritual benefits of developing a yoga practice.
Having been exposed to 15 years of various yogic disciplines, each class offers a mix of practices with a focus on Hatha Yoga. Common to her all the classes is the focus on the breath, the use of positive affirmations and enhancing our awareness of God. Every posture is student regulated and can be altered for any limitation of movement. Some student comments:
“Thank you so much for a new way to view my body & for helping with pain.” BL
“Thank you for being a channel for God to meet me and fill me each week.” EC
“Thank you for strengthening our mind, body and spirit”. NO
“Your calm influence has helped me at critical moments in my life.” MH
Every Tuesday in the Fellowship Hall (Suggested $10 Donation to Church)
Mat Yoga: 9:00 –10:00 a.m.
The mat yoga class is moderately strenuous, and includes strengthening, balance, and stretching poses that require a full range of motion along with the ability to get up and down off the floor. Options are offered to insure the beginner and the more advanced students receive the optimum benefits based on any temporary limitation.
Meditation: 10:10--‐10:30 a.m.
A meditation session begins at about 10:10 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. At this time, the chair yoga class joins in for a time of reflection and guided meditation. Instruction is given on the techniques designed to help silence the thinking mind and develop the ability to experience God as the peace within us.
Chair Yoga: 10:30--‐11:15 a.m.
The chair yoga class focuses on increasing balance, body awareness, flexibility and increased confidence. Most of the poses can be fully expressed through the use of a chair. There is always an option offered in class to either step up and away from the chair or not. You’ll learn practical postures that are easily transferred to your home environments. Come see how movement and breath work might change your life.
