Women's Fellowship is a friendly and creative group who enjoy each other's company while working together to help others. The group meets regularly to plan and implement fundraising events, but also to socialize, learn, share experiences, and build lasting friendships.
Members of Neighborhood Church Women's Fellowship work throughout the year raising funds to help support charities and philanthropic organizations that are fulfilling the needs of the community in the South Bay area. This is done by organizing the efforts of the entire church membership and friends of the church. The major fund raiser has been the Yule Parlor Parade which has raised well over a million dollars since its inception in 1956.
The Fellowship also hosts memorial receptions for family and friends, provides coffee supplies on Sunday mornings, commits funds for church projects such as carpet, draperies, upholstery, and paper supplies for the church office.
Participating women meet once a month in "Circles" which are small fellowship groups. Here they access needs and plan their future activities. They also attend monthly luncheon meetings where cultural and entertaining programs are offered. Even though reservations are required, and there is a $5.00 donation for lunch, all women who are interested in The Neighborhood Church Women's Fellowship are welcome.
The Women's Fellowship is open to any woman who is a member or friend of Neighborhood Church. Participating members are divided into Circles which are rotated and intermingled biennially. These smaller groups assist the Fellowship in achieving its purpose. Non-Circle members are "Associates."
Fellowship Board Meetings are held in the Church Parlor at 9:30AM on the first Thursday of each month. There are no board meetings in June, July, and December.
Circle Meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday of the month in homes or designated meeting places. An evening circle meets on the 3rd Sunday of each month. For information regarding these gatherings see the Fellowship Newsletter for time, place, and agenda.
General Meetings are held in the Fellowship Hall on the 3rd Thursday in January, February, March, April, September, October, and the 2nd Thursday in December. Meetings begin at 10:30 with the exception of the December meeting which begins at 10:00. As these are luncheon meetings, reservations are required.
Our ongoing Craft Workshop meets Monday mornings February through November at 9:30AM in the Nursery room of Dennis Smith Hall.
Our church is stunning, but with the talents and dedication of the Flower Guild it is made more beautiful each week through floral arrangements and festive decorations. The Flower Guild's magic is particularly enjoyed during the Christmas and Easter seasons. The Guild offers an annual Flower Calendar on which members of the church community can reserve specific dates to commemorate special occasions for a nominal fee. The guild then contacts the responsible person, discusses flowers, and the wording to be printed in the week's bulletin which is distributed on Sundays at our worship services.
