Planning for the future is a critical part of every vibrant and growing church. Communicating the vision of the future and the steps of how to get there is a core component of making the plan a reality.
The Church Council, made up of representatives from all of the boards, committees, and key groups within the church, recently completed a year-long planning process. The results are affectionately called, The Strategic Plan. The purpose of the Strategic Plan is to express who we are as a church community, what we stand for, where we're headed and how we get there.
The Council set the course for the Plan by developing the vision, mission, values, and goals.
Who we are = our Vision
What we stand for = our Mission & our Core Values
Where we're headed = our Goals
How we get there = our Objectives
Considerable time and effort was dedicated to establishing these components; they were created deliberately and methodically. The goals are aspirational and look out over a 3 to 5 year time frame.
After the Council completed their collective work, The Boards and Committees of the church each set objectives for the various goals. These objectives are the stepping stones that will enable us to achieve our goals. They are "SMART" objectives: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-bound. They are steps that can be taken over the next 12 to 24 months.
A triangle was used as a container for our plan. It is a very logical vessel as it clearly shows how the components build upon one another making an incredibly strong foundation for our vision.
We are the Church, working together to make our vision a reality.
